For interior designers and architects, our new range of acoustic panels–Mirage™–offers more than just a high-performing acoustic solution. It brings a tactile experience and striking visual impact to any space. Mirage is a true statement in design versatility and sensory appeal, transforming walls into artful landscapes.

With six unique patterns inspired by organic and textile materials, Mirage is a nod to the natural world, reimagined. Each design–Bouclé, Brutalist, Offset, Rammed Earth, Lapis, and Mortar–evokes textures that are both familiar and abstract.

For example, Bouclé captures the inviting warmth of bouclé fabric, while Brutalist nods to the familiar, ruggedness of concrete and minimalist architecture. Offset features overlapping lines that imitate textile weaves, and Lapis references the striations of travertine stone. Rammed Earth imitates the raw, natural beauty of compacted earth, and Mortar evokes the timeless elegance of a classic stucco finish.

Each design creates a subtle yet sophisticated texture. Every pattern is meticulously laser-etched, utilising Autex Acoustic’s Cube™ as the base panel, allowing designers to choose from a wide range of colours to match any interior palette with ease.

Mirage provides a visual experience that is matched by its tactile allure. Up close, each panel reveals delicate and intricate detailing that invites touch, adding a textural layer to interior spaces. When viewed from a distance, the panels give the impression of movement, with shadows and light interacting across the surface, evoking depth and a sense of liveliness. This multi-sensory impact is what makes Mirage a standout, where its textures are felt as much as they are seen.

Crafted over 12 months, Mirage’s design journey was one of innovation and exploration. The process began with our in-house design team brainstorming what “texture” means in physical form–a concept that resonates with everyone but looks different to each person.

The team tested over 80 designs, trialling variations on different Cube panel colours and adjusting scales to achieve the right balance between texture and visual impact. Some patterns that looked promising on a screen lost their appeal when etched on a panel, while others only found their true form at a larger scale. This fastidious curation resulted in Mirage’s six carefully crafted patterns, each balancing subtlety with sophistication.

As a commercial product, it was integral that Mirage panels go beyond aesthetics, and they’re highly functional too. Available in two sizes (2.4 metres by 1.2 metres and 2.7 metres by 1.2 metres) and two thicknesses (12 mm and 24 mm), they provide superior acoustic performance, absorbing sound while adding a visual and textural layer to any interior space. The bevelled edges on each panel ensure a polished finish, lending a tidy, professional look that appeals to designers seeking a seamless installation.

The carbon neutral Cube base panels are made from a minimum of 79% recycled PET fibres. They ensure durability, with rigid properties that prevent warping and distortion. Whether in minimalist or maximalist spaces, Mirage offers a balanced aesthetic that can add just the right amount of texture without overwhelming a design.

Mirage strikes a rare balance–elegant but not ostentatious, earthy yet refined, minimal yet dynamic. For designers seeking a high-quality acoustic solution that doubles as an artful design element, Mirage is the perfect fusion of form and function, inviting touch, attention and admiration.
